Aecovi joins the technological area - 20/02/2012

Aecovi Jerez reinforced its bet in the research and the development for the launching of new and innovative products with the creation of its new centre of R+D+I (research, development and innovation), located in the agribusiness technological park of Jerez (PTA of Jerez) which gather agribusiness companies with high technological component.

The PTA centre is adapted to the new needs of Aecovi, according to its strategy to create new products based on techniques of R+D+I, with new facilities which make easier the development of its range of innovative products. This investment, which is possible thanks to the operative program R+D+I of the European Union (FEDER), includes the acquisition of the latest technological machines but also, on a smaller scale, the development of its wine research program.
The quality laboratory represents the key point of this investment, as it will enable the analysis and the development of new products, in the case of coloured wines or new range of vinegars and sauces with the current work of the oenologist of Aecovi, Elena Alejos.

The innovation effort realised by Aecovi can be showed by the launching of three innovative products, which are the results of R+D+I technology, with the Arrope (grape must reduction), the balsamic sherry vinegar and also the Pedro Ximénez - the only one that could be considered as 100% from el Marco de Jerez, if we consider the grapes, the techniques of elaboration but also the use of its own facilities-. They are the leading products of the brands Arvum and Alexandro which also include more traditional sherry wine and vinegar.

Aecovi organized a visit and lunch at a vineyard in "el Marco de Jerez". It was a customized activity for a group of 50 people from the "Ateneo del Puerto de Santa María, Cádiz" (association to promote and defend the culture of wine). They had the opportunity to taste typical dishes of the area as the "Berza Jerezana", "Ajo de viña", olives marinated with Ferianes sherry vinegar, old cheese with Arrope Ferianes and as dessert oranges with Arrope. In addition, one of our field technicians, Luis Mateos, gave a talk on vineyard management. He planned a tour of the vineyard but the weather prevented it.
This initiative of Aecovi will provide a better understanding of the Sherry winemaking to all those who wish to enjoy a day with us.
